Taking inspiration from a solar house design, this beautiful loft conversion in Teddington was designed to create two comfortable guest bedrooms and a stylish family bathroom, a functional, light-filled space that maximises every inch of the property.

“Our client had a dream, and here at Vector Living, we helped them realise that,” says Ash, Vector Living’s Lead Project Manager.

The new staircase leads into a bright landing with excellent ceiling height and a

stunning skylight, which floods the upper floor with light throughout the day. The first of the two guest rooms was designed to be elegant yet practical, with thoughtful details to make the most of the available space.

“We decided to use the dormer area for a desk,” Ash says. “It’s an area that might otherwise become a dumping ground, but now it’s a useful and attractive feature.”

Comfort was also a priority, especially given the warmer summers of recent years. The team installed air conditioning to ensure the loft remains cool and pleasant throughout the year, an essential detail in any modern loft extension

While one guest room stayed traditional, the second was transformed into a games & TV room. To achieve a true cinema-like feel, the Vector Living team upgraded both wall & floor insulation to contain sound and improve acoustics.

“We also went with a darker colour scheme to create that cinema effect,” Ash adds. “When the lights are low and the TV is on, it has a really relaxing atmosphere.”

Storage was cleverly integrated into the eaves on both sides, offering space for suitcases, boxes, etc, keeping the room clutter-free.

The new family bathroom was designed as an independent space to serve both bedrooms, giving guests privacy and comfort. Vector Living extended the wall to conceal the toilet area.

“We built a fully enclosed wet-room shower area and added low-level sensor lighting,” says Ash. “It comes on automatically in the evening, so you don’t need to switch on the main lights.”

The result is a calm, contemporary space that combines functionality with subtle design touches for everyday luxury.

The conversion gives the home a flexible new level with two distinct rooms and a bathroom that serves them both with ease.
