At Vector Living, we specialise in designing and building bespoke garden studios that transform the way our clients live, work, and relax. Our latest garden studio project in Surbiton, Surrey showcases our dedication to precision craftsmanship, premium materials, and exceptional design. Significantly larger than a conventional 30m² garden room, this spacious cedar-clad studio combines style, functionality, and sustainable construction to create a truly unique, multi-purpose space.
The Brief
Our clients wanted a high-quality, multi-purpose garden building that could serve as:
A dedicated home office.
A private gym and relaxation area.
A guest space with a mezzanine sleeping area.
A fully functional shower room and WC.
They also requested:
Bespoke oak joinery for storage and workspaces.
Large windows, sliding doors, and skylights for maximum natural light.
A modern, low-maintenance exterior finish in cedar cladding.
The Build Process
1. Eco-Friendly Foundations
We began with galvanised steel ground screws, an environmentally friendly alternative to concrete. This method provided a stable base with minimal disruption to the garden.

2. Timber Frame Construction
We installed a high-performance timber frame, sheathed in SterlingOSB Zero for durability and moisture protection.

3. Insulation & Weatherproofing
The studio was fully insulated with rigid and mineral wool products, ensuring excellent thermal performance year-round.
4. Bespoke Interior Joinery
Custom-made oak desks, shelving, and cabinetry were installed to match the engineered oak flooring and ceiling, creating a warm and cohesive look.
